What happened and how YOU can help
Ok folks, this is going to be short and sweet.
As you may already be aware from my Twitter posting earlier this evening, The Academy Drum and Bugle Corps (hailing from Tempe, Arizona), became an unfortunate victim this week. That's right, this organization which is dedicated to enriching the lives of young men and women through music had their utility vehicle and trailer stolen on Monday. The estimated cost of replacing the vehicle and trailer is $12,000. As if that's not enough, the corps is set to leave tomorrow morning (Friday) for their 10,000 mile, 25 city tour. The full story can be read here:

I have just spoken with the Executive Director of The Academy, Mark Richardson, and this vehicle was being loaned to the corps. Unfortunately, the theft is not covered by insurance. The corps will have to replace this loss.
If you listened to this Wednesday's show (7/1) you now have an idea of what an amazing activity drum corps is. With that in mind, I am making a plea to each and every one of you, our listeners:
I know times are tough. We have a horrible economy, staggering job loss across the country, and little to no relief in sight. IF you are able, and IF you feel the compassion to help, please visit The Academy's website (listed below) and make a donation to help defray the cost of replacing their equipment. This is a 501c3 non-profit organization and all donations are tax deductible. Please write the words VEHICLE REPLACEMENT and any words of encouragment you may have in the comments section so that the donation is properly routed to this fund.
